    About

I recently finished a cardigan for my sister but it was not the original pattern that I had intended to make. The new pattern meant new yarn - so what to do with the original yarn? I searched for patterns that used it and came across this.

It was quite a challenge in that the squares it is made from were not simple, although I got the hang of it eventually. The finished article looks more complicated than it is (always good!) because you can’t see where one square ends and the next starts but I’m quite pleased with how it turned out. Lots of new skills learnt along the way too, including crocheted i-cord (I already knew how to knit an i-cord) and how to make a tassel

    Needles & Hooks

    • Crochet Hook 5.00mm (US 8)

    Accessories

    • Tapestry Needle
Other : Scraps of colour coded paper to indicate which square was which as the squares at the edge did not have the final edging round all the way round, and safety pins to attach them

    Measurements

Notes: I used crocheted i-cord for the tie instead of twisting strands of yarn together

Thanks Michelle. I’m really pleased with it and it’s nice to wear too - has more substance to it than I thought it would, for some reason. I’m just not sure if the tie in a contrast colour is right - what do you think? I can always make another one in the original colour and see how it looks.
Yes I’m sorry about Mungo not facing the camera. He wasn’t in the mood for posing that day!
